Powertrain or Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty Options

There are two common types of warranties associated with new cars. These are the powertrain and bumper-to-bumper warranties.

The powertrain warranty provides you basic coverage. The power train covers those elements of a new car that are responsible for making it move. Examples of what is covered by a powertrain warranty include:

  • axles
  • engine
  • differentials
  • driver shafts
  • transmission

In the alternative, a bumper-to-bumper warranty covers most aspects of a vehicle, including powertrain and other elements. The one area in which a bumper-to-bumper does not provide coverage is when an accident occurs. It does not cover the damages and other issues arising from an accident.
